Micheal Phelps

Micheal Phelps was born on June 30, 1985 in Baltimore Maryland. He began swimming when his two older sisters joined their local swim team. The first stroke that he mastered was backstroke. Phelps fell in love with the sport of swimming. He decided to dedicate himself to the sport. He had a dream of competing in the Olympics. At age 15 Phelps got to compete in his first Olympics. He became the youngest American male swimmer at an Olympic Games in 68 years. He won medals in many different places such as Athens, Beijing, and London. He ended up setting a record of most medal wins of any Olympic athlete with a total of 22 medals. He received 18 gold medals, 2 silver medals, and 2 bronze medals. Phelps set the world record in the 200-meter butterfly when he was 15. He became the youngest male swimmer in history to ever set a world record in swimming. By the time he was 17 years old, he set 5 world records. After competing in four Olympic games, Micheal Phelps retired in 2012.
Ryan Lochte

Ryan Lochte was born on August 3, 1984 in Canandaigua, New York. He began swimming at the age of five. He was coached by his own father, and took to it very quickly. Before long Lochte began training and competing in the junior Olympic tournaments when he got older. He won seven NCAA Championships and 51 other international medals. Lochte first qualified for the Olympics in 2004, held in Athens Greece and earned one gold and one silver medal. At the 2008 Olympics in Beijing he won two gold and two bronze medals. He also set world records in the 200-meter backstroke and 4-by-200-meter freestyle relay. Most recently in the 2012 Summer Olympics, Lochte won two gold and two silver medals.
